Task number 4 is all about improving your personal profile on LinkedIn. As you can see, we are coming back to LinkedIn over and over. There is no better network to build a professional brand. Other social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, do not help as much in your professional development and network. That is why we focus majorly on LinkedIn.

Unfortunately, a lot of people spend little time on their personal profiles. They are not working on their personal brand. As a result, they have a harder time finding jobs, being promoted, making sales, building a team, etc.

Your LinkedIn profile never sleeps. That is why you should constantly update your profile.

  1. Make sure your name is written in English, not in any characters that cannot be read by anybody beyond your own ecosystem
  2. Have a good Headline
  3. Have a professional and friendly picture
  4. Have a banner behind your profile picture
  5. Update your location
  6. Add your contact information
  7. Use the featured section to add images, stories, or articles
  8. Have a good About section
  9. Update your experience. Make sure everything you have done is listed here. And make sure that in the description of each experience you write what you have done, not what the company does.
  10. Update your education. Link yourself to your university. Add your major, and write a few lines about what you studied.
  11. Add volunteering roles. This is super important. People want also to see that you have a passion for things beyond your work.
  12. List all the skills that you believe you have or you want to have in the coming 5 years. Make sure you have a good list of 20-30 skills there. Do not worry if you think you do not have the skills yet, you are developing your skills, same as your profile. [Endorse other people while you are at it! This is the best way to get endorsements back]
  13. Write recommendations! The key rule here is, to write more than you receive. Anybody you have worked with and you respect the person, write a personalized recommendation. Try to write 5 or more recommendations in the duration of the program.
  14. Add all the languages you speak!
